Each year, the court empanels 19 Mendocino County residents to sit for one year as civil grand jurors. Despite our best efforts this year, we have not yet received enough applicants to seat the full grand jury panel. We are asking that you please assist us in recruiting members of your community – friends, neighbors, members of service or sport teams – to apply for membership on the civil grand jury before the end of June.
The work of the grand jury is interesting and serves an important oversight function to ensure that local government – the County, cities, special districts and school districts – is performing public service in an efficient, cost effective and transparent manner. The grand jurors have broad authority to choose their own investigation topics each year, with a primary goal of improving the functioning of local government. Typically, grand jurors will spend 10-20 hours per week performing field work and writing reports with recommendations to the target agencies.
Please help spread the word to your contacts and encourage them to reach out to the court athttps://www.mendocino.courts.ca.gov/general_info/operations/grandjury.html or call Court Administration at 707.468.3498. Thank you for assisting the court in fulfilling its duty to seat the civil grand jury.
