Seniors Save at Local Farmers Markets

NCO is pleased to announce the launch of the MendoLake Market Access to Community Health (MATCH) program, created to help seniors and WIC families bring home more fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables from certified farmers markets in Lake and Mendocino counties.

Through MendoLake MATCH, WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) cardholders can receive an additional $15 in incentive bucks to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at the farmers market. To participate, shoppers simply show their WIC or SFMNP card to the market manager and receive the match at no cost, helping stretch their food dollars while improving access to healthy, local food. They do not need to spend their own WIC or SFMNP funds to be able to receive the match.
As farmers markets are getting into full swing, we’d appreciate your help reaching eligible seniors and WIC families by:
Sharing program information with seniors and WIC families
Helping connect eligible participants with obtaining SFMNP or WIC cards, and finding participating farmers markets in their area
Including MATCH in your outreach, newsletters, resource lists, or conversations with clients and families
Sharing feedback about community needs, language access, or outreach opportunities that could help us better reach and support eligible families
Your partnership helps more seniors and WIC families connect with local markets and access fresh, healthy food from local farmers.
